Google is rolling an update for Hangouts this week that should remove some of the frustration felt when attempting to join a call, at least for Google for Work users.
Essentially, the change will allow you to join a call simply by clicking a link – no logging in or providing a Google account. Click a link, and you’re in.

Momentum by TNW is our New York technology event for anyone interested in helping their company grow.
Naturally, the presenter retains control of who can or can’t enter the conversation and gets a prompt to accept or reject the entry when someone clicks the link.
It’s a useful inclusion that should make it a whole lot for business users to have ad-hoc calls with clients or colleagues, it’s just a shame that the same option doesn’t exist for free users.
A spokesperson told TNW that it has no plans to bring it to the free offering.
